The Mary Vision at Foam Brewers
“A reverence for the blues is the motive for Alex Fippinger, the frontman of six piece Brooklyn psych band The Mary Vision, who’ve created their own subterranean sound that’s like a drugged out gospel hymn come hell bound post-punk explosion. Harmonic tones are maximized and simple riffs are repeated to create sounds that are all at once volatile, subdued, beautiful, and menacing. Eccentric and unpredictable, Alex shines as MV’s enfant terrible, drawing influence from Jeffrey Lee Pierce, Anton Newcombe and Alan Vega- crooning about Jesus, pacing the stage in disturbed revery, then musing on the American landscape, motels and empty highways.”
We like all types of music at Foam. This band though, is truly right up our alley. Check this show out on the 15th, it’s happening alongside Charlie Hudson‘s art which will be displayed throughout the brewery in March. This band is a bunch of pals of his, so he’ll be there. And he’s got great taste.
