Jake Klar w/ A Box of Stars at Foam Brewers
A singer, a songwriter, a poet, an artist. A Northampton, MA native, Jake’s music is conceived in songwriting. Coming from a place of poetry and introspection, his wander-rock sound encompasses that of folk rock, a touch of the blues, and rock & roll, to put it simply. Categorizing him, though, might do injustice to the heart and soul that goes into his work. The ebbs and flows of his almost twangy guitar riffs bring a concert goer into Jake’s world- the ups and the downs. His band tells a story with the flutters of keyboard melodies and tamborine rattles. A show that draws you in, grabs your attention, and brings you with him through the Texan desert on a search for everything, and nothing.
A Box of Stars
The vivid and often surrealist imagery that pervades A Box of Stars is a conversation between worlds. A blend of lo-fi lullabies and spaced-out Americana hailing from Vermont, A Box of Stars is composed of Macaulay Lerman (guitar and vocals), Claire Londagin (vocals), Jens Hybertson (violin), and Tim Halteman (drums). Like the back-and-forth lyrical interplay between Londagin and Lerman, the music itself drifts between dreamlike vistas and moments of clarity. Echoes of Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, and Sparklehorse are heard throughout the band’s debut EP, Days Drunk Off Heat. The collection of seven songs, recorded and mixed with care at Woodridge, NY’s Outlier Inn by engineer Josh Druckman, was released on September 22nd 2018.
This is one of those shows that we truly don’t want you to miss.
